Purpose: To assist calves through the sensitive weaning period by offering a smoother nutritional transformation and reducing stresses associated with separation from their mothers.

Product Description: A palatable liquid feed supplement designed to assist in the smooth weaning of calves in both standard weaning and early weaning systems.

As with other AusGain products daily intakes are regulated by the dynamic balance of palatable nutrients (mainly molasses) and intake suppressants (common salt and other inorganic salts).

The key feature of AusGain Calf Weaner is its high quality true protein and essential oil content.

Technical Note:

When calves are weaned from a diet of milk and pasture to straight pasture (especially with early weaning) they suffer a huge decline in the quantity and quality of protein consumed – the ‘protein gap’. Intakes of other essential nutrients such as energy, minerals, vitamins and trace elements are also in decline. This comes at a time when there is high demand of these nutrients for growth. At the same time, separation from cows leads to physical and emotional stresses amongst calves. This weaning process can noticeably lead to loss in condition and poor performance for prolonged periods.

Weaner feeds can be offered to offset the impact but these tend to be costly and time consuming.

Ausgain Calf Weaner offers 6 key features:

• a high level of rumen degradable protein (RDP) to assist in rumen development and the digestion of low quality pasture, roughages and stubbles,
• added high quality true protein in a liquid suspendable form to bridge the ‘protein gap’. This protein is high in digestible undegradable protein (DUDP) that bypasses the rumen thereby supplementing rumen microbial protein in the lower gut,
• a small but significant amount of oil providing essential polyunsaturated fatty acids that are necessary for calf health, growth and performance,
• a high level of essential minerals, vitamins and trace elements that are necessary for body functions and growth of the young ruminant,

Bovatec ®, a safe growth promoting agent that reduces the risk of gut infections such as ecoli and scours, increases FCE and smoothes out post-weaning stresses.

Feeding Instructions:

Offer free access for up to 3 months post weaning in polypropylene tubs. The duration of feeding will depend on the quality of pasture and roughage available.

Use one tub for 50 – 60 calves.
